Frequently Asked Questions
Upgrades to DoorKing's Internet Modem Server System
DoorKing implemented important changes to it's Internet Modem (IM Server) Programming Service on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. These changes may affect your access to the IM Server as of that date as customers who are using the IM Server with Remote Account Manager software, versions 6.1 and 6.2, may begin to experience problems when sending data to, or receiving data from, Model 1830 series telephone entry and access control systems. Customers who are using the version 6.3 software should not experience any sending or receiving problems with the IM Server system.
Impact on Current Users
Do I need to do anything if I do NOT use DoorKing's Internet Modem (IM) Server to communicate with my telephone entry unit?
If you are not using the IM Server to transfer data between your PC and the DoorKing telephone entry or access system, user registration is not required. Upgrading to the Version 6.3 software is recommended if you haven't already done so but is not required at present.
What do I need to do if I have upgraded my Remote Account Manager software to version 6.3 and use the IM Server?
Customers who are using the DoorKing Remote Account Manager Software version 6.3 and the IM Server service should have already completed their User Registration. These customers will have unlimited access to the server through the end of 2011 without any service disruption.
I currently do NOT use DoorKing's Remote Account Manager Version 6.3 software but do use the IM Server. What will I need to do to again gain proper access to the IM Server system?
Best Choice - Upgrade the 6.1 or 6.2 software to the 6.3 version. The 6.3 version was designed to work with our updated server configuration and is available as a free download from the DoorKing web site. Once you upgrade to the 6.3 version and register as a user on the IM Server, your IM service will return to normal operation.
Alternative Choice - If you don't want to upgrade your 6.1 or 6.2 software to the software to the 6.3 version, then the following actions are required to continue to use the IM Server service:
- Click here to visit the DoorKing registration web site.
- Register by creating a User ID and Password.
- List the individual entry systems you want to program (Account Name, Phone Number and Master Code).
- Check out.
You can check out of the registration system without providing billing information and you will have complimentary access to the IM Server through the end of 2011.
Don't forget, there is plenty of information about the IM Server and the service it provides, along with training videos and alternate methods of connection at www.doorking.com/connect. You may also view a downloadable document on this subject from our web site - click here (requires Adobe Reader).
