Frequently Asked Questions

UL 325 Standards

Educate GraphicSunbelt Gated Access Systems has been the leading provider of gate operators and barrier gates in Northeast Florida for over 30 years.  We pride ourselves on the knowledge and experience we've gained in successfully installing and maintaining over 2,500 of these units in that time.

About ten years ago, concern over the growing use of these products and the risk associated with this widespread use lead to the industry working with Underwriters' Laboratory (UL) to develop standards for the safety of the users of the system.  Outlined in the UL Code in Section 325, these standards designate how to safely install and operate these devices and should be adopted by all legitimate providers of  gate operators and barrier gates.

We have developed this subsection of our FAQ section to answer some of the more common questions about these standards as they are applied today.

In addition to our own knowledge, we have drawn upon our vendors and other resources to create this FAQ and hope it is helpful to all who access it.

UL 325 Standard FAQ Links

We have organized this subsection of FAQs into several pages dealing with the various topics covered by the UL 325 and ASTM F2200 gate and gate operator safety standard.  You can view them in order by clicking the arrow(s) at the bottom of this and each subsequent page or you can jump directly to a topic of interest to you using the links below:

This information is drawn from our understanding of the UL 325 and ASTM F2000 standards. Before implementing a gated security system, you should obtain a copy of the standards or make certain you are dealing with a qualified local dealer.

Copies of the standards may be obtained from Underwriters Laboratory or ASTM International.  The DASMA web site has several "Technical Data Sheets" that explain these standards in detail. We have put copies of two of these data sheets on our site as well as a short safety guide and you can download them by clicking the links below:
